Shorter Athletics takes first in national softball brochure contest
In the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics’ Publication Awards announced this week at the 2008 NAIA-Sports Information Directors of America Convention, Shorter College took the first place award in the Softball Brochure Contest. Additionally, Shorter placed tied for seventh in the Web site Contest and 10th in the Walt McAlexander Baseball Brochure Contest.
This year’s softball program featured the four graduating seniors from the back-to-back national qualifying Lady Hawks, with a graphic of 2007s Southern States Athletic Conference Championship Ring.
“All of our programs and our Web site are a collaborative effort within the Athletic Department,” said Grant Kersey, Shorter’s sports information director. “These awards speak to the dedication of the coaches and their insistence on excellence in all areas of their programs.” |

Shorter College’s athletic publications are designed and produced by Kersey with the assistance of coaches in the athletic department. “These awards are a tribute to the hard work of Shorter’s SID Grant Kersey,” said Athletic Director Bill Peterson. “I am really proud of him personally, and we are all appreciative of his hard work. He has done a good job of getting our sports information efforts off the ground.”
Kersey joined the Shorter College staff in 2006 as the college’s first sports information director.
