Dr. Charles Wynn to Serve as Dean of Education, Social Sciences
Dr. Charles “Chuck” Wynn has been named dean of the School of Education and Social Sciences at Shorter College. In this role, he will oversee the departments of education; history, political science and international studies; and psychology and sociology.
Dr. Wynn has been a member of Shorter’s faculty since 2006, serving as an associate professor of education. He succeeds Dr. Bill Brown, who served as dean since June 2005.
“Dr. Wynn brings a wealth of education and leadership experience to this position,” said Dr. Craig Shull, provost. “I am confident he will represent the school with distinction.”
Dr. Wynn holds a Ph.D. in social studies education from Georgia State University and a Master of Arts in history and a Bachelor of Arts in history and psychology from the University of West Georgia.
Prior to joining the Shorter College faculty, he served as Alumnae Professor of Education and chairman of the education department at Wesylean College in Macon. His public and private school teaching experience includes teaching history in Whitfield County Schools, Carrollton City Schools and at Stratford Academy in Macon, Ga.
A Rome native and graduate of Model High School, Dr. Wynn lives in Rome with his wife, Terri, and their son, Taylor.
