In addition, the spring releases by Paraclete Press include the book A Little Daily Wisdom: Christian Women Mystics by Dr. Butcher. This new release is a reissuing of Dr. Butcher’s Incandescence, which was published in 2004 and reprinted in 2005. According to Paraclete Press’ spring catalog, A Little Daily Wisdom allows the reader to “turn to any page in this beautiful collection and discover the wisdom of women mystics down through the ages. …These writers and mystics show a tender, nurturing, forgiving God who is as intimate as our own breath.”
A noted scholar and author, Dr. Butcher earned the Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Shorter College. After study as a Rotary Graduate Scholar at the University of Heidelburg and as a Fulbright Scholar and visiting lecturer at the University of London, she earned a doctorate in medieval studies from the University of Georgia.
Dr. Butcher’s numerous honors include being named the 2006 Georgia Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. She also received Shorter College’s 2007 President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching and Scholarship and was nominated for a 2008 Georgia Author of the Year award in creative non-fiction/history for her Hildegard of Bingen: A Spiritual Reader, which was published by Paraclete Press in 2007. |
