Shorter College Honors Student Academic Achievement April 1
Having been ranked for seven consecutive years by U.S. News & World Report as one of the South’s top baccalaureate colleges, academic excellence remains at the core of the Shorter College education – and Shorter students prove it. To honor the scholastic achievements of the college’s student body, Shorter’s second annual Celebrate Shorter day will be held on Tuesday, April 1. Parents and guests are welcome to attend the day’s activities.
Celebrate Shorter honors Shorter students’ hard work in the classroom, their intensive study in the field, and their skill in each academic discipline. From science research to business presentations and from poetry readings to theatre showcases, the morning and afternoon symposia span the spectrum of academic disciplines. The day also includes award programs to recognize student success.
Following an opening session in the Winthrop-King Centre at 9 a.m., the morning will include more than 25 student-led symposia at various campus locations from 9:30-11 a.m. A joint recognition ceremony will be held in Brookes Chapel at 11:15 a.m. for eight honor societies, followed by an awards luncheon for distinguished honorees and scholarship recipients in the Austin Moses Room at noon. The afternoon will include departmental sessions at various campus locations from 1-1:45 p.m. and the second symposium session from 2-3 p.m. The closing session at 3:15 p.m. in the Winthrop-King Centre will recognize the day’s top presenters.
