The Arnold Art Gallery at Shorter College will host an exhibit of works by J. Bradley Adams from Jan. 15 to Feb. 7. The exhibit titled “Lure” begins with an artist lecture and reception at 4 p.m. on Jan. 15. The exhibit and opening reception are open to the public at no charge.
“My exhibit is comprised of recent works in drawing that are continuations of my research in gardens,” said Adams in his artist’s statement. “As a verb, I chose the term ‘lure’ as it reflects my impulse for the work, such as to coax, inveigle, wheedle, or woo. This exhibit represents different strands of ideas I have been seeking to think through and visualize within a discipline that is immediate, flexible and open-ended.”
Adams holds a Master of Fine Arts in painting from the Yale School of Art at Yale University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University. He has exhibited in solo and group venues in North America, Europe and Asia. His career includes teaching art at the primary, secondary and university levels in the United States, Europe and the Middle East. Additionally, he has served as a cultural specialist for the U.S. State Department in Moldova, Syria, and Bosnia-Herzegovina. Currently, Adams is an associate professor of art at Berry College, where he teaches painting, drawing, print-making and design. |
