Theology Dean Speaks at Shorter College
Dr. David Allen, dean of the School of Theology at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, will lead Shorter College’s chapel service on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 11 a.m. in Brookes Chapel. Following the service, local ministers are invited to join Dr. Allen for a free luncheon on Shorter’s campus as he discusses expository preaching. Reservations are required by Sept. 18 for the luncheon and may be made by calling (706) 233-7257.
A representative from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary will join Dr. Allen to answer students’ inquiries about the school. Dr. Allen will also be speaking in Shorter’s religion seminar and at Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church while he is in Rome.
At Southwestern, Dr. Allen also serves as the director for the Center of Biblical Preaching and as a professor of preaching. He previously served as a senior pastor at MacArthur Boulevard Baptist Church. He has also held multiple leadership roles at Criswell College.
Dr. Allen holds a doctoral degree from the University of Texas at Arlington, a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Arts from Criswell College. He has authored dozens of publications on faith, served in four Southern Baptist Convention appointments and worked with many preaching conferences throughout the United States. Since 1973, Dr. Allen has led more than 100 revivals and Bible conferences.
