Shorter Football Listed 27th in NAIA Preseason Poll
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2007 NAIA Football Preseason Poll, as voted upon by a 17 member-panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and independents. The Shorter College Hawks received 22 votes to rank 27th, following a 7-4 record in which the Hawks will return all starters for the 2007 campaign.
The University of Sioux Falls (S.D.), defending national champions with a 14-0 record last season, received 15 first-place votes to earn the top spot. St. Francis ( Ind.), who was edged out by Sioux Falls in the 2006 National Championship, followed in at the No. 2 spot. The first regular season Top 25 poll will be released on Monday, Sept. 10.
The Shorter Hawks began full-pad practice on Monday, with high hopes for the upcoming season. They open the season away at Brevard on Sept. 1 with their home opener on Sept. 15 at Barron Stadium against LaGrange College. |

Four teams on the Hawks’ 2007 schedule also received rankings: Bethel College (6 th), Georgetown College (8 th), Belhaven College (31 st), and Cumberland University ( Tenn.) (32 nd).
