Alumni e-Newsletter Honored with Award of Excellence
Shorter College’s alumni e-newsletter received a district honor from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, the international professional organization for public relations, fund-raising, and alumni relations personnel in education. Virtually Shorter received an Award of Excellence in the Electronic Newsletters and Tabloids category, competing against entries from schools in a nine-state region.
The awards were presented on Feb. 6 at the CASE District III Conference in Nashville, Tenn. Other top finishers in the Electronic Newsletters and Tabloids category were the University of Miami and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Virtually Shorter is produced by Shorter’s Institutional Relations staff with distribution handled by Institutional Advancement. Individuals involved in the project are Tracy Batchelor, assistant director of institutional relations, who generates content; Dana Thompson, Web manager, who designs the e-newsletter; Dawn Tolbert, director of institutional relations, who edits the text; and Roger “Chip” Mitchell, advancement services coordinator, who distributes the e-newsletter.
Each month, Virtually Shorter is sent to approximately 3,000 Shorter College alumni and friends. The newsletter’s recently redesigned format features a standardized template with an eye-catching design and easy-to-read text. The Web version of the most recent e-newsletter is online at http://www.shorter.edu/about/eNews/main.htm.
