Ten Shorter College football players named to MSC All-Conference Team
The Mid-South Conference (MSC) announced Tuesday that 10 Shorter College football players have been named to the 2006 Western Division All-Conference teams.
Two players from Shorter made the list twice: Fabian Daniel (pictured above) and Lukas Gonzales. Daniel was named to the first team for both offense and defense for his roles as slotback and kickoff return specialist, while Gonzales made first team offense as place-kicker and second team defense for punter. Shorter College had more players on the defensive team than any school in the division.
“I’m real excited and proud of what all these guys have been able to do this year,” said head coach Phil Jones. “I’m looking forward to their future as players, especially since these guys are receiving these honors early in their careers. This makes us feel like we’re on solid ground as a team with a lot to offer.”
The list is as follows:
1st Team Offense – OL Zach Morrison, SB Fabian Daniel, PK Lukas Gonzales
2nd Team Offense – OL Steven Johnson
1st Team Defense – DL Josh Pidgeon, LB Logan Lollis, DB Bud Keith, DB Will Oliver, KRS Fabian Daniel
2nd Team Defense – DL Curtis John, LB Ryan Gloer, P Lukas Gonzales
Shorter College finished their season on Nov. 11 by beating Lambuth University, 13-6, giving them a 6-5 record in only their second year of play.
