Shorter College theatre students receive statewide recognition

Shorter College theatre students received the highest male and highest female scores at the screening competition of the Georgia Theatre Conference, which was held on Oct. 21 in

Macon, Ga. Shorter senior Justin McGough received the highest male score for his auditions of a song from the “Opening of Songs for a New World” and a monologue from “Hooters.” Justin is from Grayson, Ga.

Shorter freshman Jennifer Spradley received the highest female score for her auditions of “Someone Else’s Story” from the musical “Chess” and a monologue from “The Witches of Eastwick.” Jennifer is from Macon, Ga.

Additionally, Shorter students accounted for one third of the audition qualifiers and one third of the alternate qualifiers.

These students now qualify to compete at the Southeastern Theatre Conference to be held in March, where they will audition for summer stock jobs with more than 100 professional theatre companies across the United States.
