| METANOIA WEEK | ||
|
This year we have replaced the phrase “Christian Focus Week” with “Metanoia Week.” Metanoia (met-an'-oy-ah) is the Greek word for repentance. The Bible uses this word in several ways. For instance, all born-again Christians have experienced an initial metanoia—turning from sin while turning to Christ. However, there is also a sense in which metanoia is a continuing enterprise. According to Richard Owen Roberts, “Repentance is an ongoing process . . . a day-by-day, year-after-year process of refusing to follow sin and self and of deliberately following Christ.” Since Acts 3:19 commands, “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,” we all need initial and continued metanoia. For this reason, Shorter University is encouraging you to participate in the following special and daily events: Special Events
