Photo above - This snapshot was taken in 1975 during the early stages of the Shorter library construction. The look of the library will soon change as construction crews are currently working on an 18,000 square foot addition. The expansion will feature additional space for student study rooms, group meeting rooms and a fireplace with a two-story cathedral atrium.
We want you to follow the progress of our library addition on our online photo gallery, so be sure to click here over the coming months to check out our progress!

Shorter’s New Year full of new and exciting endeavors
Shorter’s New Year got off to a wintry start as a thick blanket of snow and ice coated the campus during the second week of January. The weather caused a few days’ delay in the start of the spring semester, but now, students, faculty and staff are back to business as usual. But for Shorter, this year’s “usual” will be a little different. We rolled out several new programs in 2010 that are well on their way to success in 2011. See a photo gallery of Shorter winter images.
The Shorter University School of Nursing completed its first semester in December and is now gearing up for a mission/healthcare trip overseas in June. Nursing students will participate in trips to Bulgaria and London, learning about different medical cultures and caring for others in Christian service.
Our Robert H. Ledbetter College of Business has settled into its new location on Shorter Avenue as well. This is the second semester that business students will attend classes in the 30,250 square foot building nestled in the MidTown Crossing Shopping Center.
Shorter’s new online program, which offers 100-percent online Associate of Science, Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Accountancy is in its second semester of operation.
Most recently, Shorter announced a new addition to its growing online program. Shorter plans to launch its Master of Arts in Teaching in Early Childhood Education in the fall of 2011.
Our men’s and women’s lacrosse teams will begin play this February. With more than 50 athletes on the roster, you can bet the Hawks Lacrosse first season will be spectacular! Another new venture, the Hawks Wrestling program, has already garnered several wins and will continue to do so as they play through the month of March.
2011 has just started, but already it’s stacking up to be one of the most exciting years in Shorter’s history. Happy New Year!
