Head to the Hill for Homecoming and much more!
Shorter’s big Homecoming weekend is less than a month away, so make your plans now to head to the Hill on Oct. 16 and 17. With everything from class reunions to football, family carnivals and an exciting “Treasure Chest Raffle,” there’s something that’s sure to please everyone.
On Friday, Oct. 16, check out the “Best of the Caf,” and take part in the annual alumni meeting and dinner. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. After dinner, spend some time in the Front Circle. Be entertained at 8 p.m. by comedian Sammy Wegent (’01) and alumni improv troupe “This, That and The Other.” Once the belly laughs have passed, show your school spirit at the 9 p.m. pep rally. The rally, held in the front circle, will feature the Shorter Hawks Marching Band, the cheerleaders and the football team.
On Saturday, Oct. 17, the fun starts with a family carnival at 10 a.m. in the Front Circle. Bring the kids, and get ready for big smiles; you’ll have a blast! The alumni baseball game will also begin at 10 a.m. After all that fun, treat yourself to lunch inside the Dining Hall from noon until 1:30 p.m., and then head over to Barron Stadium to watch the big game.

Alumni baseball game - Homecoming 2008
But wait. There’s one more fun Homecoming event to mark down on your calendar: the annual Alumni Association Auction’s “Treasure Chest Raffle.” Here’s how the “Treasure Chest Raffle” will work: Thousands of dollars worth of goods and services have been donated though the work of our Alumni Governing Board. These items will all be pooled together into our Treasure Chest, and one lucky winner will take home everything.
We would like for all of our alumni and friends to take part in supporting the Treasure Chest Raffle by purchasing raffle tickets. All proceeds from the Treasure Chest Raffle will benefit the Alumni Leadership Scholarship. Tickets may be purchased at hawkspace.shorter.edu or from an Alumni Governing Board member during Homecoming. Each raffle ticket is $20 or 6 for $100. The winner will be selected at the end of the third quarter of the Homecoming Football game. You do not have to be present to win.
