Shorter University has been a leader in Adult Higher education for more than 20 years in the southeast region. Serving adult students is an important part of the Shorter University mission. Shorter University was one of the first institutions to offer adult evening programs in the Atlanta Metro Region. Shorter’s Atlanta area campuses are located in Gwinnett, Riverdale, and Cobb. In addition to these locations, Shorter offers Adult Evening degree programs at the main campus in Rome.
ROME
The beautiful Rome campus is convenient for residents of Northwest Georgia including Bartow, Gordon, Polk and Chattooga counties.

Mike Wilson works for Universal Alloy Corporation, located in Canton, GA. He is a machinist working for the company's research & development laboratory, where they research and test materials for the airline industry. Before long, Mike began looking around at other jobs within the company and decided he was ready for more.
On wanting to move up
"I wanted a better work environment. I wanted to live more comfortably and make more money. So I asked my boss, who's a scientist, 'What do I need to do to move into management?' He said the company doesn't hire anyone without a bachelor's degree."
On the professional education
"My grammar was never all that great. I'd always tried my best to send out professional emails within the company. But when I got to Shorter, I realized I didn't have the grammatical skills that I thought I had. I was able to turn that around. I've become a better writer, better presenter and better researcher. It's been a tremendous help."
On the convenience
I work 50 hours a week. I drive 12 hours a week, back and forth to work. If I was at a traditional school, with two classes a week
and writing two different papers on two different subjects, it would be hard to do. At Shorter, by taking one class at a time, each for five weeks, I can concentrate on one subject, not two. It has made returning to school extremely convenient – and doable."
